Come run 6 km for rural health care! This fun-draiser run sends UCT students to Isilimela Hospital (EC) to fight diabetes backlogs, and to Emmaus Hospital (KZN) to sponsor amputee rehab.
The UCT Rural Support Network, collaborating with other societies, will be hosting our annual Run 4 Rural. Last year we raised R10 000 for Isilimela Hospital to start a hugely impactful colposcopy clinic in the rural Eastern Cape in the fight against cervical cancer.
This year we'll sponsor medical and rehab students' travel to two hospitals to help them strengthen diabetes care and amputee rehabilitation.
Arrive at 8:30 for ticket checks or registration, briefing at 8:45, run starting at 9:00
This event is a collaborative effort between Rural Support Network, UCT Physiotherapy Student Committee, UCT Internal Medicine Society, Medicine in Motion UCT, and Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières with all proceeds going toward the establishment of a colposcopy clinic at Isilimela hospital.
