This year’s Festival Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the charismatic Dutch conductor, Antony Hermus. They will open with the rousing overture, Fountain of Youth, written by Julia Wolfe in 2019. Then, Bram van Sambeek, bassoon virtuoso extraordinaire, will delight with a bassoon concerto by Nino Rota. Rota is an Italian composer best known for his film scores to the likes of the Godfather and Franco Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet. The concert will conclude with Brahms’s much-loved expansive Symphony no 1.
