Lorin Sookool’s double bill at Artscape in February 2025 features Woza Wenties! and 3 Mense Phakathi. Woza Wenties! is a semi-autobiographical solo that explores Sookool’s specific experience as a woman of colour from Wentworth, using dance to reclaim her narrative and challenge colonial erasure. 3 Mense Phakathi is a trio that examines power dynamics within South African society, emphasizing the dancers’ humanity and agency. Both works invite audiences to engage with themes of identity, struggle, and empowerment in contemporary South Africa.
