Welcome to Friends of the Iziko South African Museum. Your digital membership ticket will be sent via email. You may either save this on your mobile phone or keep a printout to show the Iziko Museum front-of-house staff to gain free entry to the museum.

Membership runs for a calendar year i.e. January to December and for any new members on a prorate calendar basis. By joining now, your membership will be valid until 31 December 2025.


Membership of the Friends entitles you to preferential rates for outings, excursions and lectures as well as free entry to Iziko South African Museum, excluding the Planetarium, Castle of Good Hope, Groot Constantia or other Iziko sites.

All bookings of events, namely outings, excursions and lectures are via Webtickets. For each event there is a Friends of ISAM preferential member rate and a non-member rate. All non-members are welcome to our events.

The Friends of ISAM have outings at least twice a month from February to December. Invitations will be emailed a few weeks in advance of the outing. Excursions relate to overnight outings and details will be sent well in advance. Bookings via Webtickets are required. There is normally a maximum capacity participants for outings and excursions.

The Friends have lectures at 18:00 on the first Thursday of each month from February to December in the TH Barry Lecture Theatre at Iziko South African Museum. These lectures are free to members, visitors are asked for a fee of R50.00. Details of the lecture invitations will be emailed each month. Bookings via Webtickets is required and there is no capacity limitation.
